Employment Mentoring

What is employment mentoring?

All individuals with ADHD/ADD develop coping strategies to help get by in day to day life.

Sometimes these strategies are transferred into the work environment and do not work as effectively. In a work environment there are many more distractions and demands.

New ‘effective’ coping strategies would be beneficial but can take time to develop and it isn’t always easy to understand what works and what does not. Common issues we work with are lateness, sleep pattern, deadlines, concentration, forgetfulness and organisation.

Being able to learn new strategies with the help of a mentor can increase confidence and increase productivity. It can be very helpful to verbalise difficulties and discuss solutions with someone who understands how you feel.  Your employment mentor will have extensive knowledge and experience with ADHD/ADD and have a full understanding of your needs.

.

How it works

.

A consultation will be arranged to meet with your mentor at our office. An assessment will be carried out and initially we offer 6 sessions, which are an hour long and take place weekly. Each session will involve taking strategies and techniques learnt from the session back into the workplace to evaluate its effectiveness and re evaluate if necessary. On the sixth session we will discuss if more sessions are needed.

.

How much does it cost?

.

Initial Consultation: £35.00 (This includes an employee needs assessment)

Mentor Session: £30.00 per session (1 hour)

The support we provide / recommend can often be funded through Access To Work.
