What to expect from Supporting Learners with Dyslexia Level 3 Qualification

 

This qualification will cover areas such as planning and providing support to one or more individuals with dyslexia in a way that meets their specific needs and preferences. Selecting appropriate materials and resources, including technology where appropriate, to meet the needs of one or more individuals with dyslexia. To be able to adapt teaching and learning materials to increase their accessibility and assess progress in specific areas of learning against one or more individual learners’ targets. Using appropriate methods to assess the effectiveness of learning support strategies and using findings to adjust support strategies where necessary.

 

Learning outcomes

 

Be able to take a person-centred approach to supporting learning for individuals with dyslexia.
Be able to select and adapt teaching and learning resources to meet the needs of individuals with dyslexia.
Be able to monitor the progress of individuals with dyslexia.
Be able to evaluate and adjust learning support strategies to meet the needs of individuals with dyslexia.

Learner entry requirements

 

Age
The approved age range for this qualifications is 18 +

Prior Qualifications
There is no requirement for learners to have achieved prior qualifications.

Prior knowledge of understanding
There is no requirement for learners to have prior skills, knowledge or understanding.

Progression Opportunities
The Dyslexia Awareness qualifications provide progression through the suite from Level 1 to Level 3. The Level 3 qualifications may also prepare learners to move on to a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties or to a broader Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or a Level 3 Certificate for Learning Support Practitioners.

Relationship with other frameworks
This qualification has no direct relationship to other frameworks, however it takes account of The Literacy and Dyslexia-SpLD Professional Development Framework and the National Occupational Standards for Learning Support Staff.
